Alas, the holiday season has arrived. A time for festivities, shopping, family, <st1:personname w:st="on" style="color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 16.6666679382324px;">joy… and for some, angst! There are 3 schools of thought when it comes to the holiday season and eating. The first school of thought believes that they should deprive themselves of all the holiday treats. They think of holiday gatherings and cringe. The visions of indulgence make them nervous and rightly so. They are likely committed to eating healthy but worry about their levels of will power. We will call them the Avoiders. The second school of thought also approaches holiday eating with concern. They however, have decided that they will indulge. They do so knowing that they may suffer some consequences in the end whether it is indigestion, weight gain, or increased susceptibility to colds...

Last week we hosted a screening of Take Back Your Power at South Bay Wellness. The documentary was not only powerful and insightful but it reminded us of the many dangers of Smart Meters (also known as Automated Meters and Digital Meters). They are the meters that the Suffolk County Water Authority, PSEG (LIPA) and National Grid are currently installing all over Long Island at rapid rates. As outlined in detail in the movie, these meters are:
Hazardous to our health. They emit high levels of EMFs that affect the human body as well as plants and animals.
An invasion of privacy. Companies will know exactly what you are doing and when and will be storing this data.
Likely to raise (not lower) your bills.
They leave the electricity, gas and water systems vulnerable to cyber attacks.
The companies do not need your permission to install these devices.
