There is no doubt that electronics have become essential in the 21st century. They are present in business offices, homes, and even the bedrooms of homes. A survey by the National Sleep Foundation discovered that a vast majority of the population (95% to be exact!) use some form of technology within one hour before they go to sleep. While this may seem harmless, it’s been discovered that light emitted from our beloved devices may be disrupting our sleep. How can this be possible? It’s really a simple explanation. The hormone that controls our sleep, melatonin, is released at a slower rate when exposed to light, especially blue light in the 460-nanometer range.
