Susan Paraspolo, MA, CHE, MFT has been working to empower individuals and families for over 20 years. Whether it be in her role as an adjunct professor, distinguished lecturer, or therapist, Susan practices with the belief that everyone can reach their desired goals given the right environment and tools.
Susan works as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) at South Bay Wellness Center. Her training as a MFT enables her to work with clients to empower them in making positive choices that will support them with living in accordance to their family, couple or individual goals. Prior to working at South Bay Wellness Center, Susan provided clinical services at Hofstra University’s Saltzman Center.
Susan is inspired by the courage of her clients. Their unique mix of confidence and faith enables them to move through the barriers life sometimes puts in our paths. The word courage and its definition embody what she believes families, couples and individuals can obtain via therapy. With client centered, empathetic and constructive therapy, those patterns can be shifted to a more satisfying and healthy cycle of communication and interactions. The understanding and recognition of destructive patterns and self-judgment can break the negative cycle many individuals, couples and families find themselves in. Susan recognizes the first step to enter therapy is the hardest, and values her role in assisting her clients to find their courage to work toward emotional health.
Susan earned her second Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hofstra University and her first in Community Health Education from Adelphi University. She has been an adjunct professor at both Hofstra University and Farmingdale State College and has worked for several years in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault. Susan is also a Gottman Level 1 Couple Therapy trained practitioner.
