Child Counseling Services

Below are some of the counseling services we provide for children here at South Bay Wellness. If you have any questions about our techniques or are looking for services not listed here, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. A qualified professional will be happy to discuss treatment options or provide helpful resources.

Anxiety is a normal part of childhood and every child goes through phases. But children who suffer from an anxiety disorder experience fear, nervousness, and shyness, and they start to avoid places and activities. Anxiety disorders affect one in eight children.

With treatment and support, your child can learn how to successfully manage the symptoms of an anxiety disorder.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

An estimated 6.4 million American children ages 4-17 have been diagnosed with ADHD. Currently 6.1 percent of all American children are being treated for ADHD with medication. One in five American children who has been diagnosed with ADHD is not receiving medicine or mental health counseling for their disorder.

Behavioral Issues

Children act out for different reasons. There are so many possible reasons behind disruptive behavior, including anxiety, learning issues, and trauma. Some children need assistance in learning how to manage powerful emotions while others may display behavior that requires additional professional attention.

Life Transitions

Children experience transitions and adjustment to life changes differently than adults. While transitions and life adjustments are a normal part of life, it is important to remember that children experience big emotions with limited developmental ability to process big feelings and emotions in comparison to their adult counterparts.

Parent Coaching

Parenting is hard. Even when we love and adore our children. The complexities of today’s parenting challenges (an increase in children with mental health struggles, social media influences, lack of community support and resources) add to this difficulty. Many parents describe feeling like they just don’t know what the right thing to do for their child is.
